Neon Drive

Magenta retro sun over a perspective grid. Unapologetically 1984.

About this pair

Neon Drive is the synthwave wallpaper: a banded magenta sun sinking into a perspective grid that runs to the horizon. The grid lines are computed in perspective rather than drawn as a flat pattern, so the spacing compresses correctly toward the vanishing point.

That perspective is exactly why this pair cannot be one scaled file. The vanishing point has to sit at a specific height on each screen; move it by the 2% that scaling introduces and the floor stops looking flat. Each file puts the horizon where that screen needs it.

The bands across the sun are cut rather than drawn — the disc is rendered first and then sliced with horizontal gaps, which is how the original airbrushed album covers got the effect. Drawing lines on top instead gives you a sun with stripes, not a sun behind slats.

Works well with

• Statement Lock Screen
• Minimal Home Screens
• White or cyan icon tints

Setting it up

1. Download both files above.
2. Fold the phone closed, then Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos and choose the cover file.
3. Unfold and repeat with the inner file.

If it ends up cropped or zoomed, this is usually why.
