About this pair

Noir Rings draws a set of soft concentric rings out from a point above centre, in greys dark enough that the pattern only appears once your eyes settle. It gives a dark wallpaper some geometry without turning it into a graphic.

The ring spacing is the interesting part of this pair. On the smaller cover file the rings are spaced wider in proportion, because rings that look elegant on a 7.6‑inch panel turn into a moiré mess when the same spacing is squeezed onto 5.4 inches. Two files, two spacings, one look.

Best on the Lock Screen, where there is nothing between you and the pattern. On a full Home Screen the rings mostly vanish behind the icons, which is not a failure — it just means you are paying for an effect you will not see.

Setting it up

1. Download both files above.
2. Fold the phone closed, then Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos and choose the cover file.
3. Unfold and repeat with the inner file.

If it ends up cropped or zoomed, this is usually why.
