Midnight Aurora starts almost black at the top and opens into a band of cold teal and violet across the lower half, the way a real aurora sits low on the horizon. The darkest region is deliberately at the top, which is where the clock, date and status icons live on both screens — so nothing competes with the text iOS draws over it.
On the 5.4‑inch cover screen the ribbon lands just below the middle, leaving a quiet field behind the Lock Screen widgets. On the 7.6‑inch inner screen the same ribbon is drawn wider and lower, so when you unfold the phone the colour appears to keep going rather than jump. That is the whole point of a matched pair: the two files are not the same image scaled, they are the same idea composed twice.
It is a dark wallpaper, so it works with dark app icons and light text. If you build a Duo Themes widget to sit on top of it, start from a near‑white type colour and a translucent background — the gradient already carries the colour, and the widget does not need to.
If it ends up cropped or zoomed, this is usually why.
