About this pair

Ink Wave is a field of slow sine waves in blues, from almost black through navy to a lit cyan crest. The waves run across the screen rather than down it, so they sit under your icon rows instead of cutting through them.

Wave patterns are the hardest thing to carry across two screen sizes, because the eye immediately notices if the wavelength changes. Both files are drawn with the wavelength set in physical units rather than pixels, so a crest is the same width in millimetres on the cover screen as on the inner one. Unfold the phone and the pattern continues at the same scale instead of stretching.

Dark enough for white text, structured enough to be interesting. A good default if Deep Sea feels too plain.

Works well with

  • Dark Mode
  • Medium-density Home Screens
  • Cool-toned widgets

Setting it up

  1. Download both files above.
  2. Fold the phone closed, then Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos and choose the cover file.
  3. Unfold and repeat with the inner file.

If it ends up cropped or zoomed, this is usually why.
